A-17- year old juvenile of Kasenengwa District in Eastern Province has died after drinking a suspected love concoction.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said Police are also holding a 14 year old juvenile suspected to be the girlfriend to the victim and her grandmother 52 identified as Eliza Tembo who is alleged to have supplied the love concoction to her granddaughter.
Mr Mwale said Police initial investigations revealed that on July 1, 2022 the victim who was taking care of cattle together with his friend is said to have eaten nshima around 12:00 hours prepared by his girlfriend.
He said after his friend ate a lump of nshima, the victm stopped him stating that his girlfriend prepared food enough for him alone.
“The two juveniles continued looking after cattle until evening when they both developed diarrhea and started vomiting.
“The victim who was severely hit was taken to Chipata General Hospital where he died on July 4, 2022 around 01:00 hours” he said.
Mr Mwale said body of the victim is in the hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Police have opened an inquiry file in the matter to establish the actual cause of death.
