The PF Government has assisted Indian trained Ikelenge District Information Officer (ZANIS) Victor Mwila who was attacked by UPND in North Western Province and lost property.
Mr Mwila has received a 650 D camera and a mobile phone all worth about K60, 000 as replacement for the phone and camera that was stolen.
Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga presented the items to Mr Mwila who was attacked in July.
And Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has lifted the suspension of all manner of campaigns imposed on UPND in Ikelengi following chaotic violent scenes.
The US Embassy in Zambia has also warned that it would impose sanctions on those perpetrating violence.
President Edgar Lungu allowed part of the Zambia Defence Force to join Zambia Police Service in the maintenance of law and order following the gruesome murder.
The United Nations (UN) in Zambia strongly condemns the recent killing of two political party supporters in Kanyama, Lusaka, as well as other incidents of political violence reported in the country in the run-up to general elections due on 12 August.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) suspended all manner of political campaigns for UPND in Kanyama Constituency after murdering a PF member.
In a statement on August 9, 2021, by ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga, the Commission explained that on 28th July 2021 and 2nd August 2021 announced the indefinite suspension, subject to review, of campaign activities in Sioma, Ikelenge and Lusaka (Kanyama Constituency) respectively.
Ms Luhanga said the suspension was due to electoral violence despite the guidance provided by the Commission.
“Following review, the Commission would like to inform the media and members of the public that it has lifted the suspension of campaign rallies in Sioma, Ikelenge and Lusaka (Kanyama Constituency) effective midnight today,” she said.
Ms Luhanga said the affected political parties/candidates are further advised to adhere to Electoral Code of Conduct when conducting any campaigns.
“Further, all political parties are guided to abide by the Electoral Code of Conduct and Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Electoral Commission of Zambia,” she said.
