China Jiangxi Corporation (CJIC) is on course to construct the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway project.
CJIC Public Relations Manager Misheck Wangwe said the road works are on course to give Zambia a master piece works.
Mr Wangwe said CJIC attaches great importance to this project thereby brining brining on board renowned experts and the best management team with excellent technical and professional strength.
He said following the launch of the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway Last year, the contractor had been on the ground carrying out technical works in readiness for the actual works.
“We have successfully concluded geotechnical and road survey works that were being conducted using advanced modern technologies. Since CJIC has been mandated to construct an advanced world-class standard road, a detailed final dual carriageway construction design takes a considerable period of time and it would be finalized soon after approvals on the preliminary designs that have already been submitted.
“In terms of preliminary designs of the road and related activities, CJIC has already invested US $ 20 million dollars. Our strategy in job creation for locals is to prioritize the interest of locals and that’s our policy. Many locals have been employed and more will be employed as we intensify works,” he said.
He said that an Asphalt Plant worth over US $500,000 had been installed, and the main construction camp that has been put up at Katuba is fully equipped in readiness for the commencement of works.
Mr Wangwe said the company had so far invested over US $ 1 million in putting up modern technologies that would meet specifications and facilitate the construction of the world-class standard road expected by the Government.
“As a contractor for the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway, we are mindful that the road is the main artery of Zambia’s economic development and it is of great significance to the promotion of local economic and socially sustainable development. So job creation is something we are paying serious attention and many local youths will benefit from this project,” he said.
He said the 20 per cent Government policy for the locals to participate actively will be greatly respected and many local firms will get jobs.
He said that CJIC operates within the confines of the law and all projects requiring ZEMA approvals are done as such.
Mr Wangwe said the move would be a new chapter of continued economic and technical Cooperation between the Republic of Zambia and The People’s Republic of China.
