Confusion has marred Nkana striker Idris Mbombo’s proposed move to Egyptian side El Gouna.
Nkana on Friday morning announced that Mbombo was leaving the club for El Gouna.
“It is true that Idris will be leaving us, he will be joining the club where Walter Bwalya was at El Gouna,” Nkana vice president Patrick Ndhlovu said.
Equally Mbombo confirmed his imminent departure from Nkana in a farewell video message.
“I leave you in good peace and I know God will bless the team. We never know we may meet again. This life of football is something else,” Mbombo said.
But Mbombo’s agent Chikoye Paricha sarcastically refuted statements issued by both Nkana and the player.
“We are not aware of any club to club contracts or player to contracts being signed. A very few months left on the contract with many interests from all over major leagues in Africa and the Middle East,” Chikoya posted on his facebook.
“Follow the facts and not over enthusiastic announcements in interviews.”
It remains uncertain whether Mbombo’s planned move to El Gouna would materialize.
The Congolese striker last season scored 11 goals to help Nkana win the 2019/2020 FAZ Super Division title.
