Indian armed forces salute late General Chintu

Indian Armed Forces have saluted Zambia Air Force -ZAF- Deputy Commander Major General Kapotwe Chintu who died after an illness last week.

A colorful send- off parade was held at the residence of Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga.

The parade was graced by India Air Force, Air Officer in Charge of Administration, Air Marshall PP Bapat with the valedictory ceremony blessed by Father Roshan Thomas of St. Dominic Catholic Church, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi.

 

Foreign members of the diplomatic corps and defence advisers joined the bereaved family and Zambian diplomats accredited to India in paying last respects to Major General Chintu.

The plane carrying the late Deputy Commander leaves India on Tuesday and arrives in Zambia same day afternoon.

President Edgar Lungu swore-in Major General Chintu on October 4th, 2018 as Deputy Air Commander.

General Chintu joined the Zambia Airforce on June 22nd, 1980.

This is according to a statement released by First Secretary Press and Tourism at the Zambian Mission in New Delhi, India, Bangwe Naviley.
