An Environmental Expert Abel Siampele has called for increased budgetary allocation to the forestry department in the Ministry of Lands to respond to the challenges facing the forestry sector in the country.
Mr Siampele, who is also World-Wide Fund Forest landscape restoration Project Coordinator, said this can only be done through the creation of a forestry Fund.
“Zambia is not supposed to be experiencing heart waves because we are far away from seas or oceans but we do experience because of the accumulation of gases in the atmosphere everyday due to human activities,” he said.
He said that this will help support the Forestry sector and ensure that the carbon tax government collects goes toward addressing emissions from greenhouse gasses.
