I’ll rebuild Mutenda police post in 10 days-Nkhuwa

Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa says the vandalized Mutenda Police post will be rebuilt in 10 days.

Speaking with The Independent Observer, Mr Nkhuwa said he cannot allow any single community in his constituency to remain without a police with the current volatile situation in the district.

He said that he has approached some well-wishers who are shown willingness to come on board to rebuild and equip the police post with furniture.

“We want to have the police post redone in 10 days and make it habitable,” he said.

Mr Nkhuwa who is also Energy Minister urged the members of the community not to derail development by vandalising public property.

And Home Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo who visited the vandalized police post together with Mr Nkhuwa promised to deploy officers at the police post once it is done.

Mr Kampyongo thanked Mr Nkhuwa for being ever available for the people of Chingola.

The Mutenda police post located about 68 kilometres from Chingola on the Solwezi road, was vandalized on Sunday, January 26, 2020 after word went round that a suspect in connection with the gassing was being held at the police post.

They went amok and shattering the windows the police post.
