The Inspector General of Police Lemmy Kajoba has warned Traffic Police Officers against mounting up snap road Traffic checkpoints across the country as they are till suspended.
Mr Kajoba said he has noted with concern that the non-compliance of traffic officers to the earlier directive by government and the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal security, Mr Jack Mwiimbu on the suspension of Snap Road Traffic checkpoints across the Country.
He said the Inspector General of Police has directed that all traffic officers across the country are reminded to fully comply with the directive earlier issued.
Mr Kajoba has guided that speed trap enforcement will continue to be mounted by traffic officers to control speeding motorists.
He said members of the Public should also know that at times police traffic officers will be noticed on the roads when performing such duties as when controlling traffic during peak hours and regulating traffic when the Presidential and other dignitaries’ motorcades are passing through a designated route.
“When officers are conducting such duties this should not be mistaken as officers not adhering to the directive earlier issued by government through the Minister of Home affairs and Internal Security,” he said.
The IG has also noted with concern the abuse of the blue flash light which is a preserve of the law enforcement agency motor vehicles by members of the public who are not authorized to use the blue flash light.
Mr Kajoba said those that are in the habit of abusing the blue flash light are being warned to stop this tendency hence with.
