Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja yesterday winded up with the Provincial launch of the Direct Diposit System (DDS) with North-Western Province being the last out of Ten Provinces.
Speaking during the launch, the Police Chief said that through the system the Police has managed to reduce on the challenges that go with the manual way of handling cash such as late banking, corrupt practices and sometimes mishandling of funds,
“I wish to further warn Police Officers to avoid abusing the system but rather appreciate it and use it accordingly” he said.
The DDS which is aimed at eliminating direct contact of cash between Police Officers and it’s clients now requires citizens seeking services from the police to deposit fines and fees directly into government revenue transit account available in specified Banks.
Zambia National Commercial Bank (Zanaco), Investrust, Indo-Zambia, Stanbic, Atlasmara, National Servings and Credit Bank (Natsave) and Zambia Industrial Commercial Bank were some of the Banks which were represented during the launch.
North-Western Province marks the 10th Provence in which the DDS has been rolled out after Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central, Southern and Western provinces. Others are Eastern, Luapula, Northern and Muchinga province.
