Zambia Police Service says some criminal minded people are impersonating the Inspector General (IG) of Police Kakoma Kanganja on WhatsApp groups purporting that the service is conducting recruitment.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said that the Police Service is not conducting any recruitment at the moment.
Ms Katongo said the criminals are using display pictures (dp) of the IG deceiving people asking them for money to join the Zambia Police Service.
She said that the criminals have opened WhatsApp groups swindling money from unsuspecting members of the public that Police is recruiting.
Ms Katongo said whenever there is a recruitment, advertisements are placed in Public Media and it should be noted that recruitment is conducted at no fee.
She has advised members of the public to be weary of such criminals and avoid being swindled.
Ms Katongo said investigations have been instituted in the matter.
