Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa says he wants to bring every learner to the same learning standards as those in the urban schools.
Mr Nkhuwa said his vision and his government is to level the education standards for both learners in the urban and in the peri-urban.
He was speaking at George Mwelwa Primary School yesterday June 5, 2020 when he donated 18 brand new school computer tablets, one brand new HP laptop and 49″ inch color television to enhance computer age learning.
He said government attaches great importance to education which he dubbed as an equalizer between the poor and the rich.
Mr Nkhuwa who is also Energy Minister was donating the items on behalf of Siksha Foundation of United States in collaboration with Chingola Round Table.
Chingola Constituency Development Trust with Matty Investments had started the project of constructing a 1×2 classroom block at George Mwelwa.
Then Mr Nkhuwa lobbied for more classroom space from Chingola Round.
Chingola Round Table collaborated with Siksha Foundation to build another 1×2 classroom.
Chingola Round Table together with its partner Siksha Foundation have built another 1×2 classroom block with an office, have donated school desks, tablets, TV giving the same new face.
Speaking at the same function Chingola Round Table Chairperson Fred Matandiko said the desire for Round Table and Siksha Foundation is to implement change that will stand a test of time and also transform lives of a leaner.
He said apart from building classroom, the organisation was now taking technology to the schools.
And Chingola District Education Standards Officer Albertina Chulumanda said the donation will ensure pupils are acquainted with computer technology.
Ms Chulumanda said with computer tablets and TV connected to a laptop, pupils can learn without a Teacher present because the tablets have lessons installed in them.
The School Head Lucas Chabala said with news of the tablets at the school, enrollment has boomed at the school.
Mr Chabala said Mr Nkhuwa had sponsored six Teachers from the school to go for training on how to use the computer tablets.
The PTA Chairperson at the school Patson Mulobeshi applauded Mr Nkhuwa for delivering development both to peri urban and urban areas of his Constituency.
And in a vote of thanks Wankunda Simumba thanked Mr Nkhuwa for the donation.
The Minister also donated boxes of soap and sanitizers plus face masks.
The computer tablets are equipped with headphones and external keyboards.
