I did not give the Mast any story-Kaweche

By Maimbo Mweemba
First Republican President Kenneth Kaunda’s son Kaweche has denied giving a story to the Mast newspaper alleging that the family has rejected the burial site reserved for the country’s founding father at Embassy Park.

ZANIS reports that Mr Kaunda said at no particular time did he meet or talk via phone to any journalist from the Mast.

I wonder where the newspaper got the information from, for this reason I wish to ask the Mast newspaper to retract the false story,” he said.

Mr Kaunda said Panji Kaunda, the eldest son is the family Spokesperson who is speaking on behalf of the family regarding the funeral.

And Information and Broadcasting Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga said everything is proceeding as scheduled.

Mr Malupenga said today will be the last provincial tour which will be held in Lusaka’s woodlands stadium.

“Government will use Tuesday to make final arrangements for the burial of Dr Kaunda which will take place on Wednesday July,7,  at the Presidential burial site in Lusaka,” he said.
