A 32 year old woman of Mpongwe has died after she was allegedly beaten by her husband after a marital dispute.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo who confirmed the incident said this occurred yesterday, 09th July, 2018 around 04:00 hours in Mpongwe.
Ms Katongo said the victim has been identified as Bibianah Chitwala while the suspect has been identified as Mukonka Chiselema 45 of Kantolo Village, Chief Malembeka.
She said the victim sustained multiple cuts on the body and a swollen face as a stick is alleged to have been used in the act.
Ms Katongo said the victim was rushed to Mpongwe Mission Hospital by her relatives where she later died and the body is lying in the same Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
The accused person is detained in police custody for murder.
