A Civil Society Organisation Adaptive Leadership Zambia says the increase in the number of HIV and AIDS infections among Adolescents in the country is worrying.
Organization Project Coordinator Robert Zimba said there is need to empower community members with knowledge to find tenable solutions from the grass roots especially at household levels.
Mr Zimba said that there is need for behavioral change especially to the youths if the number of new infections has to reduce .
“You may realize that regardless of so many sensitization this country has done, so many HIV awareness campaigns and interview from the Government, you find that no reduction in the number of HIV infections, the number keeps going high,” he said.
Speaking during a round table discussion with various stakeholders in Mufulira at St. Patrick’s church, Mr Zimba said that the district is one of the towns with a higher rate in terms of HIV and AIDS infections among adolescents because of being the boarder town.
And commenting on the same, Future Prenuer Zambia head of programs Mofya Shadrick called for more sensitization if the country is to see a reduction in the cases of HIV among adolescents.
