HH’s TOR outdated

By ALICE NACHILEMBE
The New Congress Party says that the proposed terms of reference which the United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema wrote in his letter to the three church mother bodies are outdated.

NCP president Peter Chanda said the terms were attended to in the previous sittings.

Mr Chanda said the Public Order Act (POA) was addressed during the National Dialogue forum (NDF) whose outcome was sabotaged by Mr Hichilema’s party.

He said the church is not a link to amend the POA bill.

Mr Chanda said it was agreed that the POA can be done when the constitution is amended.

He said the amendment of the constitution was not conclusively done until 2016 when the UPND motive to support it was to jeopardize the term of office which President Lungu was not complete.

Mr Chanda said the church should not be dragged into politics considering that Mr Hichilema denied the country an opportunity to amend the constitution.

He said the POA was handed over by the British colonial master was to suppress the opposition and failure of bill 10 meant an injury to the interest of the opposition.
