Health security critical at ZNPHI-Dr Chanda

Minister of Health Jonas Chanda says there is urgent need to strength local health security and surveillance systems at Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI).

Dr Chanda was speaking during the conducted tour of the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI).

He said the security system at the institution is worrying hence the need for more alert systems so that the institute can operates to its full capacity.

“Am worried about the security system here and I think something agent needs to be done to enhance the security system so that work can be conducted in safe environment,” he said

Dr Chanda said the institute is the leading appendage for the Ministry of Health in the COVID-19 response.

He thanked the ZNHI Management for the good job their doing and called on the supporting partner to come on board so that they can work together.

ZNHI was set up as a specialized national public health authority mandated to provide public health security, disease surveillance and for emergency preparedness responses.

The Minister was accompanied by Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Dr Kennedy Malama and Director Public Health Dr Andrew Silumesii.
