Grizzly’s transparency cheer mining stakeholders

By JOHN SAKALA
The Small Scale Miners Association of Zambia is impressed with the transparency exhibited by Grizzly Mining which has declared the largest emerald mined at its Lufwanya mine.

According to a media statement released by Small Scale Miners Association of Zambia Executive Director Kunda Chani, the association is please with transparency exhibited.

Mr Chani commended Grizzly Mining for declaring the extracted multi-million-dollar emerald weighing about 50-kilogramme.

“We implore other large scale mining firms to be declaring correct production figures for the benefit of Zambian economy. As an association we urge other mining houses to create a system that will promote small scale mining. This will close the gap and help to build capacity for small scale miners.

“If the relationship between Small Scale Miners Association of Zambia and the mining houses both in gemstone and base metal industry join hands, it will increase production for the base metal and gemstones thereby raising adequate revenue for the country.  This will enable the Zambian economy to benefit from the minerals mined in Zambia. We want to be part of the industry and contribute meaningfully. This can only be achieved if collaboration is enhanced,” he said.
