Green Eagles defiant after CAF defeat

By Mulenga Chapoloko
Green Eagles coach Aggrey Chiyangi has refused to throw in the towel despite his side losing 2-0 at home to Coton Sport of Cameroon in the CAF Confederation Cup match played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on Wednesday.

Coton Sport thumped Eagles 2-0 in the first leg tie of the first round.

Captain Felix Tcheoude put Coton Sports in the driving seat after 46 minutes before Tchuente Tchuente doubled the visitors lead in the 62nd minutes via a penalty.

In a post-match interview, Chiyangi said Eagles is not giving up despite the huge home loss.

“We just have to hope for the better. Yes the chances are very slim but this is football and anything can happen,” Chiyangi told journalists.

Coton Sport coach Souleymanou Aboubakar seemingly flattered Eagles.

“We have never come across a team like Green Eagles that has given us this kind of competition since this competition started. For sure this game was very hard,” said Aboubakar.
