Grade 8 pupil dies at Ibenga Boarding School

A-13-year-old Grade 8 pupil of Ibenga Girls Boarding School has died suddenly and unnatural in her sleep at the school dormitory.

Copperbelt Police Acting commanding Officer Sharon Zulu said the victim was found unconscious in her dormitory by her friends.

Ms Zulu said the victim was later taken to Ibenga Mission Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

She said Police visited her at the hospital and inspected the body ,no physical injuries were observed , the cause of death is not yet known.

Ms Zulu said on July 30, 2022 around 20:.00 hours Munsaka Nkulukusa the victim was playing with her cousin Munsaka Mabolobolo and other friends in the dormitory and after getting tired, she told her friends that she wanted to rest and that’s how her friends allowed her to rest.

 She said later when they tried to wake her up, she wasn’t responding.

“That when they went to call the Head Teacher who came to the dormitory and upon seeing her, she rushed her to the hospital where checkups were done by medical personnel who later certified her dead,” he said.

The body was later deposited to Ibenga Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
