Govt won’t be intimidated by mining firms-Lungu

President Edgar Lungu says government will not allow to be intimated by mining companies who are threating to cut down on labor due the mine tax changes.

Speaking upon arrival at Southdown air strip in Kalulushi on the Copperbelt the head of state said government will not allow the mining companies to cut down on jobs with impunity.

He said if there are issues arising there is need for mining companies and government to negotiate and make decisions on the way forward.

The President said he is confident that mining companies can handle the tax and pay government its dues which is meant for construction of roads, hospitals among other things.

And speaking earlier Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe said the vision for the provincial administration is to make Copperbelt province reach the apex of development.
