Govt warns farmers selling FISP

By Maimbo Mweemba
Government has warned that farmers who have continued selling inputs meant for the Farmer Input Support Program (FISP) risk being removed from the program.

Central Province Permanent secretary Bernard Chomba said Government is concerned with the continued abuse the program by some farmers in the province.

“Government is spending a lot of money to subsidize on farming inputs and farmers should use the program to boost the agricultural sector, some dubious farmers involved in the vice will be removed from the program to pave way for other serious people,” he said.

Mr Chomba said this when Neria Investments Limited General Manager Martin Chaikatisha called on him at his office.

And Mr Chaikatisha pledged to continue with the consistent distribution of inputs to ensure there is adequate preparation on the part of farmers.

Mr Chaikatisha said that Neria has distributed 70% of the allocated consignment to the province.
