Minister of Education, Douglas Siakalima says the Government will patent all innovations and inventions displayed by pupils from different provinces at the just-ended Junior Engineers Technicians and Scientists (JETS) National Science Centre.
He said the Ministry of Education has engaged PACRA to ensure that all innovations by pupils are patented so that the pupils protect their inventions from being copied or stolen by others.
The Minister disclosed that this year alone, 184 new innovations will be provided with technological progress by providing a framework that stimulates competition and promotes the development of new and improved technologies.
Mr Siakalima was speaking when he transited from Addis Ababa to Oslo Norway to attend a Southern African Nordic Centre themed ‘’the Role of Higher Education in Contributing to Just and Sustainable Futures.
The Minister also said the success of free education in Zambia has been anchored on the proper utilization of funds.
He said unlike in the past when a few people benefited from National coffers, President Hakainde Hichilema has ensured that National coffers are protected from looting.
The Minister disclosed that the latest statistics indicate that over two million pupils are now benefiting from the Government policy of free education.
On early education, the Minister said the Government intends to build 325 satellite Centers of Excellence to ensure that a number of children are reached, especially those in rural areas.
