Govt to make serious pronouncements over KCM and MCM

By CHINOYI CHIPULU
Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo says Government will soon make serious pronouncements over the issues surrounding Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) and Mopani Copper Mines (MCM).

Mr Matambo said during a press briefing at his office in Ndola that the pronouncements will be in good faith and people attached to the mines will benefit.

“President Hakainde Hichilema will make serious pronouncements over the mines .The previous Government messed up the mines but the new dawn Government will fix the issues of MCM and KCM,” he said.

He said Government is working tirelessly to bring the economy back to its lost glory.

“A positive remedy will be found for these mines as the President is walking the talk and the people of Copperbelt will benefit,” he said.

And Mr Matambo said Government wants to diversify and focus on agriculture which can be the backbone of the economy.

“We will diversify so that we generate money from different sectors, not just mining,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Matambo said that Zambians will benefit more from the removal of subsidies in fuel.

He said by removing subsidies, employment will be created and will be able to pay retirees.

“If we had not removed subsidies, our country was going to sink. This decision will not harm the people of Zambia, we are trying to heal the economy so let’s give Government a chance,” he said.

He said that Government will fulfill all the promises and will not let the people down.
