The government has paid a total of K150,000 to teams of small-scale miners who played a crucial role in the rescue operations at the Sensele mine accident site. The payment was based on the number of bodies retrieved, with each team receiving K10,000 per body.

The teams were divided into three sites, with Site One retrieving 10 bodies and receiving K100,000, Site Two retrieving 2 bodies and receiving K20,000, and Site Three retrieving 3 bodies and receiving K30,000.

Chingola District Commissioner Raphael Chimupi, who witnessed the event, expressed gratitude to the small-scale miners for their efforts, stating that without their help, the mission would not have been successful. He added that the government has closed the operations but is working towards creating employment opportunities for the small-scale miners.

Mr. Chimupi thanked the president for his support towards the mission.

Edward Kapungwe, representative of the small-scale miners, also thanked the government for the appreciation gesture and requested a one-month period to clear everything from the pit.
