Girl 13, defiled in Kalumbila

A-13- year old girl of Meheba in Kalumbila District has allegedly been defiled by a Local Business man in his shop at holly family Market area.
North-Western Province Police Commanding Officer Dennis Moola confirms in a statement that the incident took place on  January 11,2024 at around 17:00 hours at Holly Family Market area.
Mr Moola said facts of the matter are that on January 11, 2024 at around 17:00 hours the victim was sent to Holly family market by her mother to buy some eggs.
He said upon reaching the market, she entered a certain shop but the seller did not have a change of K100.00 she had to pay for the eggs hence she was advised to change the money in the next shop.
Mr Moola said upon entering the said shop, she requested change from the suspect whom she found selling.
“However, she was told to wait as he was busy attending to other customers, ” he said.
He said after his customers left, he decided to lock up the shop and then pushed the victim on the ground.
“He then forced himself on her and started having sexual intercourse with her whilst she was shouting for help. Fortunately, someone came and started knocking at the door and when the suspect heard that he stopped,” he said.
He said later the suspect opened the door and the victim ran away.
“Upon returning to her home, the victim informed her mother about her traumatizing experience and was later taken to Holly Family Clinic for examination. The matter was then reported to the police, who soon after investigations apprehended and detained the culprit,” he said.
