Zambia was held to a goalless draw by Ghana in the first leg match of the third qualifying round for the Costa Rica 2022 FIFA Under-20 Women World Cup played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
The Zambian girls and their Ghanaians opponents missed decent chances in both halves to settle for a draw.
Not even the presence of dependable players among them captain Evarine Katongo, Enelesi Phiri and Agness Phiri could help Zambia at home.
The return leg will be played in Accra, Ghana on December 18.
The young Shepolopolo reached the third round of the World Cup qualifiers after eliminating Malawi 8-1 on aggregate last October.
Ghana had a walkover after Mauritania withdrew from the qualifiers.
Only two teams from Africa will qualify at the Costa Rica FIFA U-20 Womens World Cup.
