Fuse women and youths in Governance structures- Kateka

By IREEN MULENGA
The opposition New Heritage party (NHP) President Chishala Kateka has bemoaned the exclusion of women and youths in key governance positions following the appointments of Cabinet Ministers by President Hakainde Hichilema.

Ms Kateka is of the view that young people need to be fused in governance structures in order to gain experience when blended with older people.

“We have observed that the appointment by President Hakainde Hichilema is not balanced, as we have seen few women and young people in his appointments. We would have loved to see gender balance, young and old so that young people can learn from the old ones,” she said.

And the Foundation for Democratic Process(FODEP) Executive Director George Chimembe has described President Hakainde Hichilema’s appointment of his cabinet as one that is based on regionalism.

Mr Chimembe has wondered why the Head of State opted to appoint Mr Cornelius Mweetwa as Southern Province Minister instead of appointing him to another Province so as to uphold the one Zambia one nation motto.
