FRA set 2021 purchasing price for Maize at K150

The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has announced the market purchasing prices of maize to be at K150 per 50KG bag of white maize and other crops with immediate effect for 2021.

The price has cheered the BuyZed Chief Executive Officer Evans Ngoma who was present during the unveiling of the purchasing designated agricultural commodities for 2021 crop marketing season.

Mr Ngoma said that such prices will endeavor to encourage local people to venture into agriculture and also motivate farmers to work extra hard to grow the economy.

He expressed gratitude toward the agency for aiming to protect and support farmers by providing competitive purchasing prices.

Mr Ngoma said the price is centered on increasing the farmer’s income unlikely briefcase buyer who exploit the farmer and dictate the price.

He said the country has recorded a bumper harvest of 3,620,244 metric tonnes of maize an achievement to 16% increase from the previous season through the Ministry of Agriculture.

Food Reserve Agency intends to purchase three commodities as Follows:

White Maize–Atleast 500,000 To 1,000,000 Metric Tons, Soyabean–50,000metrictons and Paddy Rice–10,000 Metrictons

FRA will purchase the designated agricultural commodities during the 2021 crop marketing season st the following price.
1. Whitemaize-K150/50kg
2. Soyabean-K500/50kg
3. Paddyrice-K200/40kg
