The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has disbursed K1.92 billion to farmers who delivered Grade A white maize in the current crop marketing season. This sum covers the purchase of 343,013.60 metric tonnes (equivalent to 6,860,272 bags) of white maize as of September 25, 2023.

Additionally, the FRA has initiated on-the-spot cash payments for maize deliveries, with 1,796.20 metric tonnes (35,924 bags) already purchased, amounting to K10.06 million.

John Chipandwe, Public Relations Coordinator at FRA, stated, “Farmers are encouraged to continue supplying maize to FRA depots to support national food security as the marketing season continues.”
