Former NISIR Board Chairperson nabbed

Police Investigations Team have charged and arrested former Board Chairperson at the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) Judith Ngalande Lungu for the offence of Abuse of Authority of office.

Dr Lungu 71 of Luangwa residential area in Kabwe was arrested on February 15, 2023 in Lusaka.

Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale said that brief facts of the case are that Dr Lungu between 2017 and 2021 at the time she served as Board Chairperson at the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) purchased a house from the Institute at a reduced price of 40 percent, a condition of NISIR employees, which category she did not belong to.

Mr Mwale said Dr Lungu paid K178,000 towards the total cost of K381,000 and occupied the house which actually costs K800,000.

She was released on Police Bond and will appear in court soon.
