FISP ready in Southern Province

By MAIMBO MWEEMBA

Southern Province minister Cornelius Mweetwa says the distribution of fertilizer to farmers under the Farmer support Input program (FISP) has been completed in Southern Province.

Mr Mweetwa said that Government is satisfied with the supplier of the farming inputs for delivering the commodities within a short notice.

This follows the arrival of the last consignment of the urea fertilizer which has been delivered by ALPHA Commodities to the Province.

Mr Mweetwa also assured farmers that all the Districts will receive fertilizer before the end of this week.

“Government is impressed that the suppliers have lived up to the contractual obligations, because it is it’s desire to deliver inputs on time to farmers,” he said.

Mr Mweetwa said the distribution of the farming inputs was delayed because the Government had to increase the number of bags of fertilizer from three to six per farmer.

“Going forward, Government will start delivering the inputs to the farmers before the rainy season,” he said.
