The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has launched a manual, meant to strengthen community participation in sustainable management of fisheries resources in the country.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister, Makozo Chikote has since called on all stakeholders to ensure that the contents of the manual reach the targeted groups.
Mr Chikote said formulation of the document alone is not enough but ensuring it benefits the intended groups, will help grow the fisheries sector in the country.
The minister was speaking in Lusaka, at the official launch of the user guide manual.
And, speaking earlier, Action Aid Country Director, Nalucha Ziba said the manual will go a long way in ensuring fish stocks in the country are not completely depleted.
Ms Ziba said her organisation believes the development of the guide could not come at a better time.
Meanwhile, Co-Chairperson of the Multi-Stakeholder Platform for Policy and Strategy, in the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Francis Chimpangu said the fisheries sub-sector is a critical component of the economy.
