First family donates New Year presents to Nalolo community

Republican President Hakainde Hichilema and the First Lady Mutinta Hichilema have donated 38 bales of second-hand clothes, two wheelchairs, and one bicycle to the community of Nalolo Constituency in Western Province.

United Party for National Development (UPND) National Chairperson General for Special Duties William Banda handed over the items on behalf of the first family during a meeting held at Muoyo Youth Resource Center.

Mr. Banda said the donation was a New Year present to the 12 Wards of Nalolo Constituency.

He also took advantage of the occasion and encouraged people to make use of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“The President has given you the CDF, therefore, instead of misusing it, use it to develop your area,” he said.

Mr. Banda further appealed to the community and leaders in Western Province to avoid talks of tribalism.

He wondered why the President was accused of practicing tribalism by some opposition leaders when he appointed people from certain regions in the country.

“Do not listen to some opposition leaders that want to dent the name of our President because anyone from any part of the country deserves to be appointed because we are all Zambians,” he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Western Province Minister Kapelwa Mbangweta and Nalolo District Commissioner Namatama Mupo expressed gratitude to the first family.

Mr. Mbangweta said the people of Nalolo and the entire Western Province is so grateful to the first family for permitting Mr. Banda to deliver the generous gifts to the people.

“We are happy that the first family has remembered us by sending you to deliver these items to the people of Western Province. Please convey our gratitude to them,” he said.

Ms. Mupo said the parcels received will be put to good use.

“I am sure the women will be going back home happily with their wrappers as you cannot separate a woman from a wrapper,” she said.
