Fire Engulfs Two Trucks at African Methodist Church in Kitwe

A mysterious fire incident occurred at the African Methodist Church in Buchi Kamitondo area in Kitwe, where two tipper trucks, caught fire while parked at the church, which offers paid parking services.

This occurred yesterday on June 3, 2024, at approximately 18:59 hours and the owners and details of the truck are not yet known.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba said according to eyewitnesses, the fire was reported to Kamitondo Police Post at 19:40 hours, prompting a swift response from the police and fire brigade.

Mr Mweemba said the fire was extinguished but one truck was completely destroyed, while the other sustained damage to its horse (engine).

He said the cause of the fire remains unknown, and an inquiry file has been opened to investigate the incident.
