Luapula Province has been crowned Champions of innovation for socio-economic sustainable development at the ongoing 54th Zambia International Trade Fair.
Delivering the award to the Expo Committee led by Provincial Investment Coordinator Joseph Maopu, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry Christopher Yaluma said the Province well deserved the award owing to the provincial innovation of the Luapula Expo held last year.
The Provincial Stand is in the International Hall dubbed ‘Luapula Expo- One year on.’ The exhibition involves telling the story of the success made since holding the Expo in 2017 and the achievements in the Investment Promotion and Development Programme being implemented.
Since holding the Luapula Expo and Investment Conference in July 2017, the province has attracted over 70 investors in all the seven sectors that were marketed namely, Agriculture, Fisheries, forestry, livestock, energy, mining and Tourism.
In order to accelerate the gains and avoid investor frustration, the province held an Infrastructure Symposium in Feb, 2018 aimed at interfacing with investors investing in the Infrastructure development sector in the province.
The Province led by Minister Nickson Chilangwa also visited North West Province of South Africa to sign an MoU to enhance strategic trade partnerships.
Other members of the Provincial Administration team exhibiting at the Trade Fair comprises of Peggy Kaimba, Charles Daka, Tresford Musonda and Himweela Mooya.
