FAZ applauded for sponsorship funds to clubs

Staunch Nkana supporter Yewa Kumwenda has lauded the Football Association of Zambia(FAZ) for the timely disbursement of the first batch of funds to Super Division and National Division One teams from their respective league sponsors.
On Monday, FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala announced that they have disbursed the first batch to all the 18 teams in both Divisions.
Super Division teams are entitled to K1 million per season but got K500,000 each as first batch while National Division One sides,whose allocation was increased from K22,000 to K100,000 per team got K50,000 in the first batch.
SuperSport and MTN are the sponsors of the Super Division while Eden University and Top Star are the funds for National Division One.
Kitwe based Kumwenda said in an interview yesterday that the funds from the sponsors which FAZ released will go a long way in cushioning some burden which have been brought outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
“The money to clubs has come in handy as clubs are struggling financially due to Covid-19 since they are also not making anything from gate takings,” he said.
Government has banned fans from watching matches due to escalating cases of the second wave of the coronavirus.
