Luapula Province Minister Derrick Chilundika has directed the provincial Deputy Permanent Secretary to follow up on the process of paying farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency – FRA.
Mr Chilundika said farmers in the province are eager to start receiving their payments.
He has also appealed to the affected farmers to exercise patience with his team and assured them that by Thursday, an official announcement will be made on the day farmers can receive their payments.
Mr Chilundika said this when he addressed farmers who besieged his office to follow up on their payments.
This follows the recent announcement by Ministry of Agriculture Mtolo Phiri that farmers would start receiving their payments on January 3, 2022.
The Farmers have also asked that they be given a specific day to collect their payments. ZANIS.
