Eye Ghana Olympics, Siwale counsels FAZ

By JOHN SAKALA
Aspiring Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Blackwell Siwale has advised FAZ President Andrew Kamanga to begin preparations for 2024 Ghana Olympics.

Speaking on Millennium Radio sports program in Lusaka anchored by Mukwima Chilala Siwale said time to begin preparations is now.

He said women league is stagnated not only in Zambia but across Africa.

“CAF has given a directive to have a desk for female team. I wonder why we had to wait for the directive to hype our focus on women football.

“We will be going to Ghana in four years’ time and the girls that are 15 and 16 now will be 20 by then. We need to scout for those girls and groom them. There is grant for women football from CAF, but who is utilising the money? We need to know the allocation of women football,” he said.

Siwale said that there is a female team in Chipata which plays its league in Malawi which needs to be watched and have its players scouted.

“We ask Kamanga to build his team, especially the girls’ team which can compete favourably at the Ghana Olympics.

“He should stop concentrating on the U-23 the team which he found in place, scouted by his predecessors. The ability to scout potential world class players is what makes one a good football Administrator,” he said.

Asked about his candidature, Siwale accused Kamanga of failing to run Zambian football.

He said Kamanga seem not to know what he is doing.

“We are talking to the Councillors to vote for us in 2020. Once voted in we aim to qualify twice to Africa Cup of Nations (Afcom) and then money will begin to come because when a team qualifies, FIFA gives money to qualifying teams. Money is in football and not bonds.

“Football bonds can’t work because even Kamanga himself can’t buy those bonds. I don’t know on which planet Katanga lives, maybe he has his own country called Zambia,” he said.
