Executive Director at Brethren in Christ Church Arrested for Corruption

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested and charged an Executive Director at Brethren in Christ Church Choma Children Development Project (BICC-CCDP) for corrupt practices involving K35,000.00.

Head of Corporate Communications Timothy Moono said Mwaka Machila Chibinga, 43, of House No. 1 Kachacha in Choma, faces two counts of Corrupt Transactions by Private Persons contrary to Section 20 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.

Mr Moona said the first count alleges that Chibinga received K24,000 as a reward for helping STS Drilling and Exploration Limited win a contract to drill three boreholes on behalf of BICC-CCDP, valued at K180,044.00, between September 1 and 30, 2021, in Choma.

He said the second count alleges that Chibinga received an additional K11,000 as gratification for helping STS Drilling and Exploration Limited win the contract, involving a private body, during the same period and place.

Chibinga has been released on bond and is expected to appear in court soon.
