President Edgar Lungu has appointed and sworn-in former Zambia National Farmers’ Union Executive Director Songowayo Zyambo as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture.
The President has since urged Mr Zyambo to work closely with key players in the agriculture sector.
Speaking at State House today when he swore in Mr Zyambo, President Lungu is confident that the new Permanent Secretary’s vast experience in the agriculture sector would help him handle challenges in the sector.
The Head of State has urged the new Permanent Secretary not to work only with technocrats in the Ministry but to interact more with all farmers and agro dealers.
And speaking after being sworn in, Mr Zyambo thanked President Lungu for showing confidence in him by appointing him to the position of Permanent Secretary.
He said he will ensure that policies and measures to be implemented by the Ministry have the blessing of all stakeholder.
Mr Zyambo takes over from Julius Shawa.
