Ex ZAF Commander claimed ownership of flats-witness

A State witness has told the court that Former Zambia Air Force Commander, Eric Chimese applied to Zesco and filled in a form for connection of power to nine flats located in Ibex Hill.

Zesco Manager Corporate Services, Kennedy Chisanga alleged that General Chimese told Zesco that the houses in question belonged to him.

Mr Chisanga says this is according to the form that was filled in and presented to Zesco.

In this matter, Chimese and Chita Lodge Director James Chungu are charged with five counts of Abuse of Authority of office and money laundering relating to properties in Ibex Hill and Lilayi area in Lusaka.

When the matter came up , Mr Chisanga said according to the actual physical application form to Zesco by Chimese he applied to have power connected to nine house located in Twin Palm street where nine flats are situated .

He alleged that Chimese further provided copy of his NRC Number, Place of birth, Sex and details when he applied .

But, the defence objected saying the witness should restrict his testimony to what is written on the application form.

He said the witness cannot state that the form was filed by General Chimese because he does not have facts .
