Chililabombwe District Youth Development Coordinating Committee DYDCC Chairperson Samson Chisambo says empowering youths is a challenge not restricted to the government, but to the private sector as well.
Mr Chisambo said the youths, are a major resource not only for financial development prosperity but for social change also.
He said empowering youths should be both financial and improved standard of living.
Mr Chisambo said one of the keys to empowering the youth is with skill development, a youth equipped with essential skills, can utilize them to feed, assist others, and even invest for future use.
“Youth empowerment is pursued by promoting youth rights, youth activism and in community decision making. At present it is the most effective mean that society possesses for confronting the challenges of the future,” he said.
Mr Chisambo said youth empowerment is essential for poverty eradication, Crime Reduction, Good Governance, good education standard.
He said the youth is claiming his right to a decent living by willing to take risks.
Mr Chisambo who is also Be Helped and Help One Youth Initiative (BHHOYI) President said that they are serious social and economic consequences associated with not addressing the youth who is at the risk of negative circumstances.
He said young minds should have access to resources to transform their consciousness through their beliefs, values, and attitudes.
