Eight suspected UPND cadres arrested in Chililabombwe

Police in Chililabombwe have arrested eight suspected UPND cadres in Chililabombwe for conduct Likely to cause a breach of peace in which the suspects attempted to destroy properties for Chililabombwe constituency PF Parliamentary candidate Richard Musukwa.

Copperbelt police commissioner Elias Chushi said the incident happened on Wednesday, June, 22, 2021 and the property the suspects allegedly attempted to destroy are the residence and Mapili Lodge all belonging to Mr Musukwa.

Mr Chushi said the Police were however quick to take action and saved the situation while the unruly cadres eventually took to the streets and caused confusions.

“Police moved in the area and apprehended Richard Musonda 25, Derrick Mazembe 22 Christopher Mwechenju 19, Naomi Mwale 29, Chiluba Pandwe, 29, John Munthali 18, Claudius Mwaba 32, and Idess Munshya 35,” he said.

Mr Chushi added that some of the suspects were found with catapults and are set to be charged accordingly.

The suspects are in police custody and will appear in court soon.
