The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has launched a continuous voter registration exercise in Chingola, aiming to ensure a transparent and inclusive voter registration process.
ECZ Chairperson, Mwangala Zaloumis, encouraged eligible residents to register as voters, emphasizing the importance of voter registration and the need for eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunity.
The exercise, launched at Chingola Municipal Council Zikale Library, will cover new registrations, transfers between polling stations, replacement of lost or damaged cards, changes of names, inclusion of names in the register, correction of errors, and removal of deceased voters from the register.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager, Ms Patricia Luhanga, represented the Chairperson and noted that the exercise has been launched in 10 additional districts to ensure a transparent and inclusive voter registration process, free from discrimination.
Stakeholders, including political parties, were urged to disseminate information about the registration process to ensure maximum participation from the community.
Chingola District Electoral Officer, Namukolo Kalufyanya, and Copperbelt Provincial Electoral Officer, Macloud Nyirenda, also encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity to participate in the democratic process by registering as voters.
