President Edgar Lungu has paid tribute to African freedom fighters who contributed to the liberation of the continent saying their sacrifice must Not be forgotten.
President Lungu says as Zambia and the continent commemorate African Freedom Day tomorrow, Africans must rekindle the spirit of the founding fathers of African independence.
Speaking in his special address ahead of the African Freedom Day tomorrow, President Lungu said the adoption of this year’s theme “Winning the fight against corruption: A sustainable path to Africa’s transformation was adopted signifying AFRICA’s collective agreement to fight corruption.
The head of state said, in this regard government is implementing the national anti-corruption policy as well as ratifying the African Union convention on preventing and combating corruption among measures.
President Lungu said further, the public interest disclosure act number 4, the forfeiture of proceeds of crime act and the plea negotiation and agreements act number 20 are being enforced.
He also observed that through decentralization, government has reduced opportunities of corruption in a number of areas.
