Most of the fatalities we experience as organisations and individual leaders do give warning signs way before their occurrence.
Both lack of a leader’s early danger detection ability and organisation’s deliberate early danger detection systems have contributed to a lot of fatalities.
In the first six verses of 2Samuel chapter fifteen, we discover how Absalom undermined the popular confidence in King David’s administration for four years.
Imagine, Absalom managed to cause people to be dissatisfied with David’s leadership for four years without the system detecting that.
Absalom eventually won the hearts of many and managed to dethrone his father.
This could have been avoided had David developed a system to detect warning signs before that coup d’etat occurred.
2SAMUEL 15:6-7
“Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites who came to the king asking for justice, and so he stole the hearts of the people of Israel.
At the end of four years, Absalom said to the king, “Let me go to Hebron and fulfill a vow I made to the LORD.”
Most likely, king David and his men had taken certain things for granted and that did cost them dearly.
Not paying attention to “little” negative signs usually tends to be very costly.
Certain problems organisations face are preventable and prevention is better than cure as the adage goes.
Leadership works well with systems, both formally formulated and informally crafted.
There is a tendency of being carried away with achievements and neglect to protect or sustain the achievements made.
