Driver steals Hilux for Sinoma

Police in Ndola have arrested a 24-year-old man for stealing a Toyota Hilux worth K946,000.

Christopher Musokwe, a driver at Sinoma Cement Company stole the vehicle after he was sent to buy simcards by his supperiors.

Copperbelt Police Commissioner Elias Chushi confirmed that the stolen vehicle was traced through (Global Positioning System) GPS and it was discovered that it was heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC).

Mr Chushi said the company staff persued the suspect and managed to apprehend him before he crossed over to DRC.

“Police received a report of theft of Motor Vehicle which occurred on May 1,2021 around 22 :00 hrs in Kawama Compound, Ndola , in which Wang Yilie aged 39, a Commercial Manager at Sinoma Company, reported on behalf of the Company that Musokwe , stole a motor vehicle Toyota Hilux Registration No BAG 7506, White in colour and valued at $43000 US Dollars, (K946,000) after he was sent on an errand to buy sim cards at 0600 hrs.

“The company traced the vehicle through the GPS after noticing that the suspect has not returned and at 21:00 hours, the vehicle was tracked heading into DRC, through Kawama,”he said.

He said Musokwe is in police custody.
