PF member Chishimba Kambwili says that he is shocked that leader of the UPND Hakainde Hichilema did not attend the state funeral of late former President David Kaunda.
Speaking at his residence in Lusaka today, Mr Kambwili said that UPND generally shuns away from public events.
Mr Kambwili said that foreign dignitaries travelled from far places to come and honor Dr Kaunda for the biggest opposition party to shun the event on grounds of not being invited to attend.
“Mr Hichilema went to sign in the book of condolences for the late Dr Kaunda, was he invited, the program that was released yesterday said arrival of the opposition political parties and the general public, if wanted to attend he wound have done so under the general public,” he said.
However, yesterday information and broadcasting PS Amos Malupenga said Mr Hichilema along with several other political leaders was invited as per the usual standard practice with state functions.
Mr Kambwili who is also former NDC leader said that he was not invited to the state funeral, but decided to attend to honor the late founding father.
“It was too big of an event to miss so I went under the general public, what Mr Hichilema did yesterday was unacceptable and should be condemned by all well-meaning Zambians, and he should apologize” he said.
