DP condemns cops’ move to drag Chipili MP to court

By ALICE NACHILEMBE

The Democratic Party has condemned the move by the Police in Mansa to drag Chipili Independent Member of Parliament Jewis Chabi to Court.

This is in a matter where Mr Chabi was arrested last year on December 17, 2017 for removing a PF Chitenge Material at Mansa Civic Bus Station. A year later, he has been charged with malicious damage to a PF Chitenge and a plank worth K250.

Democratic Party Spokesperson Judith Kabemba said her party is aware that PF has been trying to entice Mr Chabi to work with them and promising him an adoption in 2021.

Ms Kabemba said he has consistently denied the offer stating that the current PF is different from the PF that was led by Late President Sata.

She said PF has embarked on a mission to intimidate and victimize those with Bahati law maker.

“The panic and fear in PF is as well emerging from the fact that Mr Chabi is a sympathizer of Kalaba who is the DP Presidential Candidate for 2021. PF’s biggest fear is that hon Chabi will deliver victory to Kalaba and leave them to suffer a loss like he did to PF SG Davies Mwila in 2016.

We further ask the Church, Civil societies and all peace loving Zambians to arise and condemn such acts because the rate of intimidation and victimization in this country has reached alarming levels. We as DP condemn strongly the path taken by PF of turning Zambians into slaves just because they want to hold on to power. We further wish to state that the DP will stand by Mr Chabi,” she said.
