Don’t entertain ugly head of tribalism-Chingola DC

By JOHN SAKALA
Chingola District Commissioner Agnes Tonga has implored Zambians not to entertain the ugly head of tribalism.

Speaking on Independence Day eve, Ms Tonga said the freedom fighters had one focus of liberating Zambia from colonial masters.

She said that if they had entertained tribalism, the mission could have been aborted.

On Independence Day, Ms Tonga said Zambia has been faced with several hurdles among coronavirus and climate change.

She said climate change had resulted into reduced rainfall thereby affecting power generation.

“And affected power generation has affected most of the operations of business houses. The outbreak of coronavirus was equally a low blow for Zambia. I urge Zambians to remain supportive to Government as we come out of the challenges,” she said.

The DC later interacted with the children at the Freedom Fighters Square in 4th Street to remind them why the day was important.

Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo urged Zambians never to allow peace slip out of hands.

Mr Tembo said peace being enjoyed today was paid with price by the forefathers.

And speaking for freedom fighters, Gevas Mwansa implored politicians to be patriotic.

Mr Mwansa said careless sentiments have possible to disrupt peace of the country.
